Re: Visual Studio 2017

This is deeply worrying! :o  :( Our company has standardized on SharpSetup for installation of all our software products. May I ask why development has stopped? Do you know of any alternatives? Would it be possible to get some instructions/source code in order to add support for Visual Studio...

Re: Performing a minor upgrade

Solved it! Here is what I did: 1. Make sure you give your product an AppProductCode in Product.Defines.wxi. 2. In SetupWizard.cs, under case InstallationMode.Upgrade: change AddStep(new InstallationStep(InstallationMode.Install)); to AddStep(new InstallationStep(InstallationMode.Upgrade)); 3. In Ins...

Re: Performing a minor upgrade

No, it seems to return the default value of INSTALLOCATION. I think the problem lies in the upgrade mechanism, because I cannot see a way to intercept the overall upgrade process between the unstallation and the installation. As I understand it, this would be the right place to read the current inst...

Re: Performing a minor upgrade

I think I understand it, but do you have a recommendation for how to implement the "saving" of properties in memory? I have tried in Gui, InstallationMode.cs,but when performing an upgrade, I can't seem to get the previous value of msi property INSTALLLOCATION, i.e. where the product is cu...

Performing a minor upgrade

I'm having trouble with the upgrade mechanism of SharpSetup. When performing an Upgrade, SharpSetup seems to always do an unistall of the installed package and then install the new one. The problem with this is that none of the important Msi properties specified in the original installation are reta...

Re: Uninstaller.exe icon

Okay, after battling with the problem for a considerable amount of hours, I have managed to solve the case. Just some quick notes in case anyone else should ever face the same challenge: 1. The icon for Add/Remove Programs is fetched from Uninstaller.exe 2. Uninstaller.exe is created at runtime by S...

Uninstaller.exe icon

I am having trouble controlling the icon of my installer that is shown in Add/Remove Programs. I have figured out that this line in Product.Uninstaller.wxs is the source: <RegistryValue Id="ARPEntry8" Type="string" Action="write" Root="HKLM" Key="Software...

Re: .NET 4.0 prerequisite in bootstrapper

Aha, case sensitivity! It crossed my mind, but I didn't test it. But thanks, it works perfectly now! Quick question: Do you support the .NET 4.5 (dotnetfx45_full.exe) as well?

.NET 4.0 prerequisite in bootstrapper

Our Gui.exe Depends on some .NET features that was introduced in .NET 4.0. Hence, we would like the SharpSetup IntermediateBootstrapper to check for this and install it if not present. I have tried to follow the documentation and I have read the few forum posts on the subject several times - but I s...

Re: Missing path macros

I rebooted the machine, and then the macros were present. But it would probably have worked just by logging off and on again. The problem was that I ignored your Log off check Box at the end of the installation + which I didnt on my main machine, thats why it worked right away. But maybe logging off...
